Unix is a family of operating systems derived from AT&T Unix in the 1970's. As such, it is the oldest and most stable operating systems available. Many current operating systems are derived from Unix, the most well known being [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux|Linux]] and [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS_X|Apple OS X]].
