Chrome Remote Desktop

Chrome Remote Desktop is not strictly for ChromeOS. At the Daily Data offices, we use it to connect to various machines, from/to Unix to Microsoft Windows to MacOS. But, it is also very handy for connecting too/from a ChromeOS based machine.

This is strongly based on the Chrome web browser (Chromium works as well), and the simplest solution is to open up Google Chrome to https://remotedesktop.google.com/support from any machine.

On Chromebook

  1. Install the Chrome Remote Desktop one of these ways
    1. From Google AppStore or through this link:
    2. Open Chrome web browser to remotedesktop.google.com/support
      1. Under Get Support choose download
  2. Open Chrome Remote Desktop
  3. Under Select Share My Screen
  4. Generate Code
  5. Send the generated code to whoever needs access
  6. When the user tries to access, select share from the small popup
  7. Closing the app will terminate the remote session

On remote machine who wants control

  1. Open Chrome Remote Desktop
  2. Select Access my computer
  3. Enter your Google credentials
  4. Select Remote Support
  5. Under Connect to another computer enter the code the client gave you
  6. Press the Connect button
  7. Wait for other user to accept the connection
