Chrome Remote Desktop
Chrome Remote Desktop is not strictly for ChromeOS. At the Daily Data offices, we use it to connect to various machines, from/to Unix to Microsoft Windows to MacOS. But, it is also very handy for connecting too/from a ChromeOS based machine.
This is strongly based on the Chrome web browser (Chromium works as well), and the simplest solution is to open up Google Chrome to https://remotedesktop.google.com/support from any machine.
On Chromebook
- Install the Chrome Remote Desktop one of these ways
- From Google AppStore or through this link:
- Open Chrome web browser to remotedesktop.google.com/support
- Under Get Support choose download
- Open Chrome Remote Desktop
- Under Select Share My Screen
- Generate Code
- Send the generated code to whoever needs access
- When the user tries to access, select share from the small popup
- Closing the app will terminate the remote session
On remote machine who wants control
- Open Chrome Remote Desktop
- Select Access my computer
- Enter your Google credentials
- Select Remote Support
- Under Connect to another computer enter the code the client gave you
- Press the Connect button
- Wait for other user to accept the connection
